Accounting practice reporting
A practical product capability for Canadian accounting and bookkeeping practices.

SpidNums practice reporting turns live work data into operational answers on one dashboard: KPI cards, a "Needs attention" list, and a recurring-revenue chart built from the services each client is assigned. One SLA colour rule runs everywhere — green when a due date is more than seven days out, orange within seven, red at due or overdue.

Why a missed deadline is the last signal, not the first
By the time a deadline passes, the file has usually been quietly at risk for weeks — unassigned, waiting on records, or sitting behind other work. Firms that track work in lists can see each item; what they lack is one view of what needs attention now.
How Dashboard & SLA works
The dashboard opens on KPI cards, a "Needs attention" list of the items closest to trouble, and a recurring-revenue chart computed from each client's assigned services, their frequencies and prices. It reads live work data — there is nothing to refresh or rebuild.
Underneath it runs one SLA colour rule, applied everywhere in the product: green when a due date is more than seven days away, orange within seven days, red when due or overdue. The same item shows the same colour on the dashboard, the Task Master board and the Reminders feed.
Running the morning triage with SLA colours
Triage becomes mechanical: reds first, oranges next, greens can wait. Because the rule is shared, a partner reading the dashboard and a preparer reading their own task list are reading the same risk language — there is no legend to relearn per screen.
What changes for partners and managers
The Monday meeting starts from the dashboard instead of a spreadsheet assembled the night before. Deadline risk is visible before it becomes a missed filing, and recurring revenue is a number on screen rather than an annual estimate.

Frequently asked questions
Is this financial reporting on my clients' books?
No. SpidNums is not a general ledger — Dashboard & SLA reports on the firm's own operations: work status, deadline risk and the recurring revenue implied by assigned services. Client bookkeeping and financial statements stay in the ledger tools the firm already uses, such as QuickBooks or Xero.
How are the SLA colours calculated?
One shared rule: green when the due date is more than seven days away, orange when it is within seven days, and red when the item is due or overdue. The same rule renders the same colours on the dashboard, Task Master boards and the Reminders feed.
Where does the recurring-revenue chart get its numbers?
From the Services catalogue. Each client's assigned services carry a frequency and a price, including any per-client override, and the chart is computed from those assignments. Keeping service assignments current is what keeps the number honest — there is no separate figure to maintain.
Can clients see the dashboard?
No. Dashboard & SLA is firm-side reporting. Clients sign in to their own portal, where they see their services, deadlines, documents and engagement letters — never the firm's KPI cards, workload or Needs-attention list.
